Grounded From 2003 to 2005 I photographed the series "Grounded," focusing on the spatial experience of working at the military-industrial storage facility in southern Arizona referred to as "The Boneyard." This facility contains the wreckage of out-moded 20th century defense (offense) technology itemized across 2600 acres of desert. The aircraft are mothballed, cannibalized, and kept behind military guard and fence. This environmental design enhances the relationship of authority and secrecy, and transforms a peripheral space in the desert into a mythical landscape. |
